Theme 36 - Clouds

Ok Ok.. So I cheated a bit. I know we aren't suppose to "photoshop" our pictures except to resize them and stuff.. but I really liked how the rays of the sun in this looks. It kinda reminds me of an opening to heaven or something. If it makes anyone feel any better, I only messed with the levels and contrast, that's it, scouts honor! I may end up taking another picture for the theme clouds anyway.

It was the original girls who set up the no Photoshop rule. Given that about half or more of the people doing this challenge found it through someone (Julie?) on a Photoshop posting board, it's inevitable that they would decide to cancel that rule for their challenges.

I think it's become a personal choice now. For me, I only add a watermark most of the time (I used to add a small one and really blend it in, but then I read an online news article about people stealing photos and selling them, so I increased the size and visibility of my watermarks). Sometimes, I do as you did here, and just adjust the contrast or brightness.

Usually in those adjustment cases, it's because it was a grey and overcast day so I shot in black and white which helped compensate a little, but still needs a little help to create the right lights and darks. From what I gather (I've never developed film myself), this kind of lightening/darkening would be achievable by the chemicals and developing time in a darkroom, so I don't mind doing that.

Before this gets too long, I'll post it properly on my Blog tomorrow, hopefully!

But it's a wonderful photo, I like the rays and the colour especially.
